Craps Come bet explained

Point already on — Come starts a fresh Pass-style bet on the next roll. Glanceable dice for a phone at the rail.

Reviewed Oct 12, 2026

Answer first

90s
  1. 01Come is placed after a point is established — not on the come-out for Pass.
  2. 02Think “a new Pass Line” that uses the next roll as its own come-out.
  3. 03On that roll: 7 or 11 wins Come; 2, 3, or 12 loses; 4–6 / 8–10 becomes the Come point.
  4. 04Dealers move a winning Come number to that box; then you need that number before seven.
  5. 05You can take odds behind Come the same way as behind Pass (table multiple applies).
  6. 06Skip Come on your first visits if the Pass Line alone already fills your attention.

On the rail

When Come is available

  • Come-out (Pass only)

No point yet — Come is not the starter bet

  • Point ON (example: 6)

Now you may put a Come bet for the next roll

Pass starts the story. Come is the “another Pass” button once the puck is ON a point.

Progress

Come in one cycle

  1. 1

    Point ON

    Puck on 4–6 / 8–10

  2. 2

    Bet Come

    Chips in the Come box

  3. 3

    Next roll

    Come’s own come-out

  4. 4

    Come point

    Moved to that number

  5. 5

    Hit or seven

    Win or lose that Come

Your Pass Line and your Come bets can have different points at the same time. That is normal — and why beginners often wait.

Same math family as Pass — different timing on the felt. Don’t Come is the opposite-side twin (skip until Pass/Come feel natural).

Your turn

Words dealers use

  • Come

A Pass-style bet placed while a point is already on. The next roll is the come-out for that Come wager.

  • Come point

If the Come’s come-out lands 4–6 or 8–10, dealers move your chips to that number. That number must hit before seven.

  • Come odds

True-odds chips behind a Come point — same payout idea as Pass odds. Ask once for the table multiple.

  • Don’t Come

The Don’t Pass twin after a point is on. Leave it until the Pass/Come flow is comfortable.

  • Place bets

Different family — you pick a number without a Come come-out. Not the same as Come (separate topic).

After a Come point is set, that Come wins if its number hits before seven — independent of the table’s Pass point.

Sequence

First Come without panic

  1. Step 01

Wait until the puck is ON

If there is no point, you want Pass — not Come.

  2. Step 02

Drop the table minimum in Come

Say “Come” if the dealer cannot see the box. Keep the stack clear.

  3. Step 03

    Watch one full Come cycle

Win on 7/11, lose on craps, or follow the chip to a number — then wait for hit or seven.

  4. Step 04

Add odds only if Pass odds already make sense

Same true-odds idea. See the odds-bet guide before you stack both.

Watch outs

Common misunderstandings

  1. 01Betting Come on the come-out

With no point, the main line bet is Pass. Come is for after the point is established.

  2. 02Thinking Come replaces Pass

Many players keep Pass and add Come. You can also run Come alone after a point — but learn Pass first.

  3. 03Mixing Come with Place

Place puts money on a number without a Come come-out. Different rules and pays — do not treat them as twins.

  4. 04Chasing every number at once

Four Come points feel smart until a seven. Beginners: one Come max until the flow is boring.

After the 90 seconds

Questions before and after you play

A 90-second guide cannot cover every table moment. Tap a group, then a question — answers are short paragraphs, not one-liners.

01Come basics

What is a Come bet in craps?

A Come bet is a Pass Line–style wager you make after a point is already on. The next roll acts like a come-out for that Come: 7 or 11 wins, 2/3/12 loses, and 4–6 or 8–10 becomes the Come point that must hit before seven.

What is the difference between Come and Pass?

Pass starts before there is a point. Come starts after the table already has a point. The win/lose numbers on the Come’s first roll match Pass math, but timing and chip movement on the layout are different.

02At the table

Can I take odds on a Come bet?

Yes — once Come has a number, you can usually take odds behind it, just like behind Pass. The table’s odds multiple still caps the size. If you are new, learn Pass odds first so two stacks do not confuse the rail.

Is Come the same as a Place bet?

No. Place bets put money on a number without going through a Come come-out. Pays and procedures differ. This guide stays on Come; treat Place as a separate lesson.

03Where to play

Where can I find craps tables after this?

Use the Las Vegas venues below with published craps inventory in our catalog. Confirm the table minimum and whether you want Pass only or Pass plus Come before you buy in at the rail.
