Best casino destinations we cover

“Best” here means a land market we can open with a named regulator and published inventory — not a paid #1-in-the-world sticker.

How to use this destinations page

  1. 1

    Pick a market

Vegas, AC, Chi, Detroit, Gulf, LA, PA

  2. 2

    Name the regulator

    NGCB · CCC · IGB/IGC · MGCB · MGC · LGCB · PGCB

  3. 3

    Open the hub

    Floors → that destination

  4. 4

    Read cards

    Hours, units, loyalty, sources

If a “top destinations” article cannot name the licensing board for that city, it is not our method.

Catalog fields

What “covered destination” means here

  1. regulator

    Named board

A public gaming authority homepage and published licensee / count file.

Tip: No board name → not White Gambling.

  2. address

    Street floor

A building you can walk into. Online-only skins stay off this page.

    Tip: Land first.

  3. inventory

    Official counts

Tables, slots, poker, or licence class from the regulator or archived OP desk.

    Tip: Units ≠ tip quality.

  4. age

    Adult line

Our commercial US markets use 21+ on the casino floor — bring government photo ID.

    Tip: Card at the door.

  5. hub

    Floors hub

Each destination has a market hub under Floors with shortlists and cards.

    Tip: Start there.

  6. scope

    Honest cut

Tribal, Cat-4 minis, truck-stop VGTs, and iGaming skins are out of scope until we say otherwise.

    Tip: Read the offline note.

Coverage is a research status, not a travel magazine medal.

Floor rules

Words that keep destination lists honest

Know before you sit

Destination market
A CasinoList market id with its own Floors hub — Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Chicagoland, Detroit, Mississippi Gulf Coast, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and Nevada satellite markets.
Commercial land casino
A brick-and-mortar floor licensed by that state’s commercial gaming board. Rules and game mix differ by state — Nevada is not a national template.
NGCB file
Nevada Gaming Control Board nonrestricted Count / Sqft registry. One official stack powers Las Vegas and every other Nevada market we publish.
Not a world ranking
We compare destinations we can prove with regulator links. Missing Macau or Singapore is a harvest gap, not a claim that Vegas “beats” them.
White Gambling scope
Licensed land floors with sources on the card. Sweepstakes, offshore .coms, and unlicensed apps are outside this guide.

Pick a trip without folklore

21+

  1. Want mega-resort spectacle?

Start Las Vegas — Strip for postcard floors, locals for parking-first sessions, Downtown for the Fremont walk.

  2. Want an East Coast boardwalk?

Atlantic City — nine CCC casino hotels, Boardwalk vs Marina, DGE size signals on the overview guide.

  3. Want Chicagoland floors?

Thirteen cards — Illinois Gaming Board metro floors plus NW Indiana IGC casinos in one visitor-zone hub.

  4. Want Detroit’s trio?

Three MGCB commercial hotels — MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity, and Hollywood Greektown — one downtown visitor zone.

  5. Want Gulf Coast resorts?

Mississippi Gulf Coast — MGC Property Data tables/slots/poker and sports flags on twelve coastal cards.

  6. Want statewide PA land?

    Pennsylvania Category 1 / 2 / 3 only — PGCB ownership + monthly table/slot reports. No Cat-4 minis, no iGaming skins.

One destination spine per trip beats hopping three states in a weekend unless you planned the flights.

Sequence

Plan from the catalog, not a blog top-10

  1. Step 01

Open Floors and pick a destination hub

Each market above has its own hub. That page is the inventory home — shortlists and cards for that regulator lane.

  2. Step 02

Skim official size signals, then amenities

NGCB / DGE / MGC / PGCB counts set scale. Loyalty, sportsbooks, poker desks, and parking sit on individual cards.

  3. Step 03

Confirm 21+ ID and same-day hours

Commercial casino play on these cards is 21+. Holidays and construction still need a property check.

  4. Step 04

Read the matching guide when one exists

US legality framing, Atlantic City overview, and Las Vegas first-visit guides deepen the hub — they do not replace the cards.

Watch outs

Common destination-research mistakes

  1. 01Treating a “best casinos in the world” list as our catalog

Those roundups mix resorts we have never harvested. Start from Floors destinations with regulator links.

  2. 02Assuming every US state works like Las Vegas

Licence classes, ages, and published count files differ. Pennsylvania Cat 1–3 is not an NGCB Strip stack.

  3. 03Counting online skins as a destination

A mobile app is not a Boardwalk hotel or a Biloxi resort. This guide stays on land.

  4. 04Using card counts as a quality score

More cards can mean more books and taverns, not a “better” city. Read category and sources on each card.

01What “best destinations” means here

What are the best casino destinations?

On CasinoList, “best” means land destinations we cover with a named regulator and published inventory — Las Vegas and other Nevada markets, Atlantic City, Chicagoland, Detroit, Mississippi Gulf Coast, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania Category 1 / 2 / 3. We do not publish a paid global #1 list.

Do you rank casino cities from #1 to #10 worldwide?

No. We do not sell places in a ranking, and this page is not a world championship of casinos. Missing Macau or Singapore means we have not harvested those official lists yet — not that they “lost” to Las Vegas.

Which destination should a first-timer pick?

Most first-timers start with Las Vegas for resort scale and walkable options, or Atlantic City for a compact Boardwalk/Marina hotel set. Open the market hub, then two or three cards — do not trust a blog “top 3 cities” alone.

02Markets and regulators

Which casino destinations does CasinoList cover?

Las Vegas, Reno–Tahoe, Laughlin, Mesquite, Carson Valley, Wendover–Elko, Rural Nevada, Atlantic City, Chicagoland (Illinois + NW Indiana), Detroit, Mississippi Gulf Coast, Louisiana (Lake Charles · Shreveport–Bossier · New Orleans), and Pennsylvania Category 1 / 2 / 3 land casinos. Card counts change as we add or close venues.

Who regulates these destinations?

Nevada → NGCB. Atlantic City → NJ CCC / DGE. Chicagoland → IGB + Indiana Gaming Commission. Detroit → Michigan Gaming Control Board. Mississippi Gulf → MGC. Louisiana → LGCB. Pennsylvania land → PGCB.

Is gambling age 21 in every destination you list?

On the commercial casino floors in our current US markets, plan on 21+ with government photo ID. Always confirm the property and state rules before you travel.

03What is not on this list

Why isn’t Macau or Singapore listed?

Famous destinations without a CasinoList harvest stay off this page. When we open a market, we need official inventories and sources on every card — not a travel-magazine medal.

Do you include online casinos as destinations?

No. This guide is land-based White Gambling. Online skins, sweepstakes sites, and offshore apps are outside scope.
