LGCB
Louisiana Gaming Control Board — regulates gaming activities under its jurisdiction and publishes illegal-operator cease-and-desist recipients.
Gambling by computer
Louisiana criminal and board tools reach computer gambling; R.S. 27:19.1 authorizes cease-and-desist notices for illegal online gambling.

Sequence

How to check a “legal in Louisiana” online-casino claim

  1. Step 01

Read the AG alert, not the site terms

The Attorney General’s page states online casino and sweepstakes-style casino games are illegal in Louisiana.

  2. Step 02

Look for an LGCB online-casino roster

If the Board has no authorized iGaming operator list, the commercial online-casino claim fails.

  3. Step 03

Treat C&D lists as enforcement, not a shopping guide

LGCB’s illegal-operators page names recipients of cease-and-desist letters — not licensed sites to join.

  4. Step 04

Use land cards only for land facts

CasinoList Louisiana floors below are brick-and-mortar inventory from official sources.

Common Louisiana online-casino mistakes

  1. 01“The land casino is legal, so the website must be”

LGCB land licences cover the facility. The AG’s online-casino prohibition is a separate rule. Our catalog cards do not authorize remote play.

  2. 02“Sweepstakes coins make it a promotion”

The AG expressly rejects comparing casino-style coin sites to ordinary retail sweepstakes as a path to legality.

  3. 03“A foreign licence covers Louisiana”

Louisiana does not adopt overseas seals as a substitute for a state iGaming authorization that does not exist.

  4. 04Using the illegal-operators list as a directory

That LGCB page documents enforcement targets. It is not a recommended-play list.

01Louisiana online casino status

Is online casino legal in Louisiana?

No. Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s public alert states that online casino games such as slots, blackjack, roulette, and poker for real money remain illegal, and that online casino, bingo, keno, iGaming, and alleged sweepstakes or social gaming sites offering such games are operating illegally in Louisiana. There is no commercial state-licensed iGaming roster to check.

Are sweepstakes casinos legal in Louisiana?

The Attorney General says no. The alert describes dual-currency or coin-based “sweepstakes” or “social casino” platforms that offer real-money payouts or gift-card prizes as illegal gambling, and states that Louisiana law and the SB181 veto context do not legalize those sites without a vote of the people and licensing investigations.

Are land casinos legal in Louisiana?

Yes — commercial land and riverboat casinos regulated by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board. CasinoList catalogs LGCB commercial floors in Lake Charles, Shreveport–Bossier, and the New Orleans area from official inventories. Those pages are about the building, not remote casino websites.

Does CasinoList list Louisiana online casinos?

No. CasinoList does not rank, recommend, or link online casino or sweepstakes sites. For Louisiana we publish licensed land floors only. This guide exists so searchers who asked about online legality get an honest status answer with official sources.

02Enforcement

What is the LGCB illegal-operators list?

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board publishes a public list of operators that have been issued cease-and-desist letters. It is an enforcement record, not a catalogue of places to play. CasinoList does not reproduce operator brand directories from that list as recommendations.

Can the Attorney General stop illegal online gambling sites?

Louisiana law (including R.S. 27:19.1) authorizes the attorney general or the board chairman to send cease-and-desist notices for gambling by computer in violation of R.S. 14:90.3, including certain platform and payment intermediaries. Read the statute and AG materials for the current process; this page is not a complaint form.
