Moneyline vs spread vs parlay
Three ticket types at a real casino sportsbook window — glanceable lanes for the board in front of you.

Answer first
90s- 01Land window only: this page covers tickets bought at a casino sportsbook on property — not remote apps.
- 02Moneyline: pick who wins the game (or fight); price shown as American odds.
- 03Spread: favorite must win by more than the points; underdog can lose by less (or win).
- 04Parlay: combine multiple legs; all legs must win (ties/void rules are posted).
- 05Your printed ticket locks the terms you bought — boards keep moving after.
- 0621+ with photo ID; keep the ticket like cash until you collect or it expires.
Ticket lanes at the window
| Ticket | You need | Pays when |
|---|---|---|
| Moneyline | Winner of the event | Your side wins outright |
| Spread | Cover the point spread | Margin beats the number |
| Parlay | Every leg wins | All selections cash |
| Total (related) | Over or under points | Combined score vs line |
| Minimum | Window / market floor | Ask if board is unclear |
| Payout | Ticket + ID when asked | House time limits apply |
If you cannot buy it at this property’s sportsbook window or on-property kiosk, it is outside this guide and outside CasinoList’s land-based scope.

Your turn
Board vocabulary
Moneyline
Bet on which side wins. Favorites show a minus price (risk more to win less); underdogs show a plus price.
Point spread
Handicap in points. Favorites give points; underdogs get points. A push returns the stake when the margin lands exactly on the spread (common rule).
Parlay
One ticket with multiple legs. Higher payout, all-or-nothing on the legs that remain live after any voids.
Vig / juice
The book’s built-in edge in the price (for example -110 on many spreads). Understanding it is optional on visit one.
Ticket writer
The window cashier who prints and often pays tickets. Ask minimums and ID rules once if the board is unclear.
Sequence
Buy one clear ticket
Step 01
Confirm the room
Follow casino signs to the sportsbook. You must be 21+; bring photo ID for payouts.
Step 02
Pick a lane
Start with a single moneyline or spread you understand. Add parlays only when each leg is intentional.
Step 03
State the bet at the window
Event, side, stake. Take the printed ticket and treat it like cash.
Step 04
Collect or stop
Return to the window per house rules. Chasing losses ticket-after-ticket is the same tilt pattern with different screens.

Common ticket mistakes
01Confusing ML with spread
Moneyline needs an outright win. Spread needs the margin. Saying “the favorite” without a number can get you the wrong ticket.
02Parlaying blindly
More legs raise the payout and the chance one miss kills the ticket. Build parlays on purpose, not by habit.
03Throwing away the stub
No ticket, no easy payout. Keep it until the book settles and you collect.
04Treating this as an app tutorial
We only describe the land-based window. Property marketing may mention other channels — CasinoList does not document them.

After the 90 seconds
Questions before and after you play
A 90-second guide cannot cover every table moment. Tap a group, then a question — answers are short paragraphs, not one-liners.
01Land-based only
Does this guide cover mobile sportsbook apps?
No. CasinoList is a land-based casino catalog. This page explains moneyline, spread, and parlay language for tickets you buy at a Las Vegas casino sportsbook window or on-property kiosk. Remote or off-property wagering products are outside our mission.
What if the property advertises a phone product next to the boards?
Property marketing may mention other channels. We still only describe the physical book for orientation and catalog filtering. Follow house rules on site, but do not expect CasinoList to document or endorse remote wagering.
02Reading tickets
What does −110 mean on a spread?
American odds: you risk $110 to win $100 at that price (plus your stake back if you win). Many spreads sit near −110 on each side; that gap is the vig. Your ticket shows the exact price you bought.
What happens if a parlay leg ties?
House rules decide — many books void that leg and recompute the parlay on the remaining legs, but you must read the rules posted or ask the window. Do not assume a tie is an automatic win or an automatic loss.
03Where to go
Where can I find a sportsbook after this compare?
Use the venues below flagged with a sports-pool amenity in our Las Vegas inventory. Confirm the room is open and which markets are posted when you arrive — amenity flags are not tonight’s odds board.
